Alanya has been fought over for millennia — from Cilician pirates and Roman generals to Seljuk sultans and Ottoman pashas.
Green Canyon is the local name for the reservoir behind Oymapınar Dam, located approximately 80 km west of Alanya in the Manavgat district. The dam was built on the Manavgat River by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ). The reservoir is the fourth-largest dam lake in Turkey. The water is a deep emerald green, surrounded by pine-covered mountains.
