Dim Cave: An Underground World 12 km from Alanya
A million-year-old cave with four halls, an underground lake, and stalactites that took millennia to form.
Fosfor Mağarası (Phosphorus Cave) is a sea cave at the base of Alanya's rocky peninsula. It is accessible only by boat and is part of the standard Alanya boat tour route, which passes the castle walls, the shipyard, and several sea caves.
💙 THE BLUE LIGHT EFFECT The cave is named for the phosphorescent blue light in its interior. Sunlight enters through the underwater entrance and is filtered by the water, producing a blue shimmer on the walls and ceiling. Minerals in the rock amplify the effect. The phenomenon is most visible during the afternoon hours.
This is classified as a "blue grotto" — a natural optical effect also found in similar formations elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

🏴☠️ PIRATES' CAVE On the same boat route, Korsanlar Mağarası (Pirates' Cave) is a deep cave where Cilician pirates reportedly stored stolen goods. The cave is large enough for boats to partially enter.
